Welcome to the 2020 Dowling Catholic Madrigal Dinner!
We hope you and your son or daughter are getting excited for the Dowling Catholic Madrigal Dinner on January 10th and the 11th! The students are working hard and we are grateful to Mr.Tipping, Mrs.Bartemes and Mr. Holland for their time and efforts.
The Madrigal Dinner Event is an enjoyable evening with great food, music and fellowship. Parish doors open at 6:30PM for both 7:00PM performances Friday and Saturday nights. Our venue is the Parish Hall at St. Francis Catholic Church in West Des Moines. Information regarding ticket sales will be sent in a separate email, as this year our event will be changing its sales format from a previous paper envelope ticket order to one of an electronic format and will be managed directly through the DCHS Business Office. In previous years, orders and payments have been collected at the Christmas Choral Concert, but there will be no collection baskets at this year’s concert on December 9th. We expect a sold-out Madrigal event again this year so please do not delay in placing your order as we have limited seating. Be sure to be on the lookout for the separate email regarding Madrigal Dinner ticket orders! If you should have any further questions about purchasing tickets, email us at DCHSMadDinner@gmail.com. Ticket sales will end January 6th or as soon as the event sells out.
Your son or daughter has chosen to be a part of the Madrigal Dinner event in the role(s) of: Royal Court, Serving Chorus, Royal Pages, Madrigal Band Members, and/or skit participants. All Royal Court participants have been fitted with their costumes and most of the Serving Chorus as well. Skit participants will be fitted soon. The Pages will receive their costume on the night of the performance.
All Royal Court men and pages will need to purchase black tights and black shoes (canvas Romeo made by Capezio). Both may be purchased at Mark’s Dancewear in Johnston or Elite Dance Outfitters in Clive. Mention Dowling Madrigal Dinner to receive a discount.
Pages need a black turtleneck, in addition to the black tights and black shoes mentioned above.
All ladies will wear their black choir shoes. Serving Chorus ladies, please iron your already-washed skirts and blouses. Do NOT wash or iron your (very fragile) vests. Gold or maroon ribbon ties were provided for all of the vests, and outfits should have come home with the Serving Chorus ladies by the end of last week.
Continue to check the Choral "News & Notes" Newsletter (https://www.dchschoir.org/ ) for additional costume information.
Band members need to wear black-footed tights and a black turtleneck. They will arrive in costume both nights.
In advance, parents, thank you for your support! Your parental assistance will help to make the Madrigal evenings’ festivities a success. On that note, we need volunteers! Opportunities for decorating, set-up, clean-up and food donations are on the sign up link attached. This is a fun way to meet other Choir and Band families. Please volunteer using the Sign-up link at the bottom of this email. You may need to copy the address and open in your browser to access the page.
Additional timeline information will be provided the week of the performance including the rehearsal schedule for all Madrigal Dinner participants.
Thank you to all of the committee chairs: Brigid Greening, Marcie Coleman, Laurie Baumhover, Sarah Smerage and Anne Marie Cox, and to all of the volunteers who have gotten us off to a great start! We look forward to sharing this amazing Dowling Catholic tradition with you on January 10th and 11th!
